AC-T: What’s next for Caleb? Lots, but no trip to Asheville

Here’s an excerpt from the Asheville Citizen-Times article:

So what’s next for newly crowned “American Idol” winner Caleb Johnson?

Tons of work, but probably not a visit home to Asheville. Asked Wednesday when he’ll get back to his roots again, he said sadly, “You know, I don’t know. I don’t know. I have no idea. They haven’t told me.” …

After his victory, Johnson said he was not planning a move out of Asheville to Los Angeles. …

Johnson will now headline the American Idol Live tour starting June 24, performing along with Irene and eight other “American Idol” season 13 finalists. That will involve weeks of rehearsals beforehand, with tour dates through Aug. 23. The tour comes to Greenville, S.C., on July 22, stopping at the Peace Center. Tickets are now on sale. …

Johnson also has to record an album in time for the already announced Aug. 12 release date. The album can be preordered now on iTunes. … The production of the album may involve some wrestling with Johnson’s “American Idol” handlers and advisors, since “Idol” winners typically record songs written for them, and that’s not what Johnson has in mind.
