AC-T: Point University backs out of merger with Montreat College

Citing “complications involving legal agreements” and concerns in Montreat, Point University officials said Tuesday the school will not pursue a merger with Montreat College, the Asheville Citizen-Times reported Tuesday.

The Point Board of Trustees released a statement Tuesday morning.

“After careful and prayerful consideration, the board of trustees of Point University has determined, due to complications involving legal agreements regarding Montreat’s main campus and concerns about the merger within the Montreat College family, that we cannot pursue this merger,” the statement reads.
