AFD warns of scammer impersonating firefighter

From the Asheville Fire Department:

The Asheville Fire Department is warning residents of a possible scam in the Asheville area. There has been a reported situation where a local resident received a call from a person claiming to be an Asheville firefighter. The posing individual stated that there were fires occurring in the area of this resident and the caller was offering to come in and do an inspection of their home. Thankfully this resident found the call suspicious and reported it. The Asheville Fire Department warns citizens to be cautious of similar calls since the department does not perform inspections of single dwellings and will contact building owners or property management for inspections of any multi dwelling properties.
