Aloft Asheville Downtown Named the Top Pet Friendly Hotel in the U.S. by USA Today and BringFido

Asheville, N.C. (October 19, 2016) – McKibbon Hospitality is pleased to announce that its Aloft Asheville Downtown hotel has been named the Top Pet Friendly Hotel in the U.S. by USA Today and BringFido. The hotel was chosen as a finalist in September from BringFido’s database of more than 25,000 hotels, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, campgrounds and long-term apartments that welcome pets, and USA Today readers voted to select Aloft Asheville Downtown as the winner.

We are thrilled that USA Today’s readers have selected our Aloft Asheville Downtown hotel as the Top Pet Friendly Hotel in the U.S.,” says John McKibbon, chairman of McKibbon Hospitality. “In addition to the hotel’s many pet-friendly amenities, the Aloft team has gone above and beyond through their foster dog adoption program, which has found forever homes for more than 70 dogs over the past two years.”

Aloft Asheville Downtown launched its foster dog adoption program in 2014 with Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue to foster dogs in need of a forever home. The hotel houses one dog at a time who wears an “Adopt Me” vest and can be adopted by hotel guests or Asheville locals visiting the hotel. The program carefully screens and matches each four-legged friend with the right adoptive parent. In addition to this program, Aloft allows hotel guests to bring their dog to stay free of charge. Each dog receives food and water dishes, a signature dog bed, a dog toy and locally baked doggy treat. Guests can take their dog on the hotel’s rooftop Air Level, which is complete with an artificial turf path for dogs to walk and play.

We are committed to making dog owners and their companions feel at home when they check into Aloft Asheville Downtown,” says David McCartney, general manager of Aloft Asheville Downtown. “Being selected as the Top Pet Friendly Hotel in the U.S. by USA Today and BringFido is a testament to the fact that we have created an environment that is truly accommodating for dogs and their owners.”

This month, Aloft Asheville Downtown is holding two events to benefit local partner Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue. The first event, Paws & Pumpkins, will be held on Wednesday, October 26 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at The Millroom in downtown Asheville. Tickets are available for $20, and the event will include a Family Feud game show competition with teams sponsored by local businesses and organizations and a silent auction complete with an array of local items and packages including a package with two tickets to the Bob Dylan concert and a night at the Aloft Hotel. The event will also include live music from The Juan Benavides Group, and Charlie’s Angels will have two dogs available for adoption at the event. The second will be the hotel’s Live@Aloft event, which will be held on Aloft’s rooftop Air Level on Sunday, October 30 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The event will feature Goldie and the Screamers, an Asheville-based soul and neo soul band. The event is open to the public and a suggested $5 donation will benefit Charlie’s Angels.
