Annual state report on N.C. charities to be released Nov. 19

Press release from the N.C. Department of the Secretary of State:

North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall will release the 2017-2018 N.C. Charitable Solicitation Annual Report at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, at a press conference to be held at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina in Raleigh.

The Annual Report provides a detailed 12-month snapshot of the state of charitable giving in North Carolina for charities and professional fundraisers registered with SOSNC’s Charitable Solicitation Licensing Division. The report also features detailed information that could be useful to anyone planning their holiday giving.

Secretary Marshall will be joined by the Food Bank’s Vice President of Development, Amy Beros, who will speak about the organization’s work, including its relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Florence and Michael. Twenty-two of the 34 counties the Food Bank serves were declared federal disaster areas in the wake of the storms. The Food Bank has distributed more than four million meals in the affected communities.

For more than 35 years, the Food Bank has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties across central and eastern North Carolina. It serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through warehouses in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills, and Wilmington.

The Food Bank is located at 1924 Capital Boulevard in Raleigh. The press conference will begin at 10 a.m., and the media availability will run until noon.
