Anti-violence activist protests lack of progress in investigation of murder of Derrick Lee, Jr.

Press release from Jack Logan, organizer with Put Down The Guns Down Now Young People:

The [Sept. 16] Press Conference was held in Asheville. The focus was around an unsolved murder case of 12 year old Derrick Lee Jr. The family and our organization was hoping that the new police chief in Asheville who recently resigned will put new eyes on this murder case. Now we are back at square one. We have no faith in the police department who are handling the investigation. The family simply state they want justice. His grandparents and mother and father. With a possible corruption in the police department have us all worried now not knowing if the investigator handling this murder investigation is involved. I was the only one [who] spoke at the press conference.  The Put Down The Guns Down Now Young People Organization held the press conference in Asheville North Carolina today outside of City Hall.
