APD NEWS RELEASE: Asheville Police seek machete-wielding burglar

From Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (Jan. 14, 2022):   Asheville Police are on the lookout for a burglar who possessed a machete as he broke into a residential garage in the 100 block of S. French Broad Ave. early hours on Jan. 12.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video carrying a machete as surveilled a home on S French Broad Ave. before breaking inside Wednesday.  He then stole various tools, three flashlights, a collectible lighter (picture attached), and a knife, as well as a unique cordless power flaring tool (picture attached).

Investigators describe the suspect as a white male, 20-30 years of age, slender build around 5’ 10” tall.  He was wearing black sneakers with white soles, light blue jeans, a gray-green hooded coat, and carrying a backpack.  He was also brandishing a 2-foot long machete.
