APD seeking assistance to identify armed robbery suspect

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police Department (APD) is asking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who robbed another person at gunpoint Tuesday morning.

Officers responded in front of a business in the 100 block of Johnston Blvd. this morning to investigate an armed robbery around 6:45 a.m. in which a suspect produced a large handgun, took the victim’s wallet, and fled on foot.  There were no reports of injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 45 years of age, wearing black clothing, brandishing a large black pistol.

Anyone with information to share with the Asheville Police Department can send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411. You can also contact APD at (828) 252-1110.
