UPDATED: APD IDs suspect in Westville Pub shooting

Update from the Asheville Police Department on July 9:

The ongoing investigation into the death of Keith Blair, and the shooting of two others, has identified Jhakar Horace Davis as being at 777 Haywood Road and armed with a handgun on the night of May 29, 2021.

On July 8 he was arrested on the following charges:

  • Carrying a weapon into an establishment where alcoholic beverages are sold and consumed
  • Going armed to the terror of the people
  • Discharging a firearm in city limits

Davis has been released from jail after making a $60,000 secured bond.

A gun fight at a West Asheville bar led to the death of one man and injuries to two others. Keith Larnel Blair, a 31-year-old Asheville resident, has passed away. One of the other individuals that was shot is in critical condition. Over 30 shell casings have been located, as well as 7 vehicles with bullet holes. The shooting happened around 1:00 a.m.

This is the third homicide in Asheville since Jan. 1, 2021.
