APD investigates afternoon shooting in West Asheville

The Asheville Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot of McDonald’s located at 401 Smokey Park Highway. APD and paramedics located 32 year old, Joshua Wilson Early, of Canton suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Early was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot when an altercation took place with the occupants of his vehicle and the occupants of another vehicle.

A Buncombe County Sheriff Deputy was on the property at the time of the shooting. After he heard the shot he apprehended two of the three individuals at the scene. A third individual fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later by another Buncombe County Deputy.

After consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney, Tarrell Maurcus Harris 18, of Asheville and Darrion Deshawn Brown 21, also of Asheville, were charged with Armed Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, and Attempted 1st Degree Murder. They are in custody at the Buncombe County Detention Facility under $600,000.00 dollars bond.
