APD investigates pit bull attack in Montford

Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:

ASHEVILLE – On Wednesday March 7, 2012 at 6:46 p.m. Asheville Police and Asheville Animal Control responded to Gray St in the Montford area for a dog bite. The victim Laura Haney was walking her dog when a pit bull ran out and began to interact with her dog; Ms. Haney was attempting to keep the dogs from fighting when she was bitten by the pit bull. Ms. Haney was treated for her injuries at Memorial Mission Hospital.

The owner of the pit bull was identified as Deangelo Tucker of Gray St. Mr. Tucker surrendered the pit bull to animal control where the pit bull was transported to the animal shelter for observation in quarantine.

Mr. Tucker was issued a written warning for allowing a dog to run at large, no city license, no rabies vaccine, owning an unaltered pet and owning a dog that bit a person.
