Apple Orchard Bicycle Ecotour on Sunday part of NC Apple Festival

Sycamore Cycles and the Henderson County Branch of the NC Cooperative Extension Service will host the inaugural Apple Orchard Bicycle Ecotour this weekend as part of the NC Apple Festival in Hendersonville. The tour begins at 10 a.m. To register or for more information, contact the extension service at (828) 697-4891. Here are the details from the organizers:

Gather at Sycamore Cycles in downtown Hendersonville at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am start. Enjoy a leisurely 6 mile bike ride over rolling hills and back roads through apple country to the NCCES Apple Variety Block in Dana. After enjoying some apple snacks and a tour of this experimental orchard, it’s on to another orchard and then back to Main Street and the Apple Festival. To ensure the safety of all participants, Hendersonville Police will provide a motorcycle escort.

Directions: Sycamore Cycles is at the corner of Third Ave. East and King Street, one block East of Main in Downtown Hendersonville

Parking: On the street, across 3rd Ave. in the Azalea lot, or one block East on 3rd at the Henderson County Court House

Fee: $20 per person (benefits the NCCES – Pomology Program). Please fill out one registration form for each person; pay with a single check. Registration due to Extension office by August 27th.

Check should be made payable to NCCES and mailed or dropped off at 100 Jackson Park Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Include your completed registration form(s) in your envelope.
