Aquatics in Asheville via Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club

Press release from Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club:

Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club, a Level Two accredited USA Swim Club, founded in 2001 in Waynesville, the team has recently expanded into Asheville. We’re a local business serving 130 athletes and families across Haywood and Buncombe counties.

Some quick stats for you about the past season:

SMACers set 42 total team records this season. 12 relay records and 30 individual records, (.01 seconds away from setting 31!)
One SMAC athlete was 7th in the US for 13-14 year old boys for a while in the mile.  16:04!  (Sleater)
Event winners at NC Swimming Senior Champs and Age Group Champs. (Sleater, Kriegler, Gibson)
5 athletes placed in the top ten. (Sleater, Kriegler, Gibson, Valliere, Bauer).
Event winners at ESSZ Age Group Sectionals – 10 year old Jaden Gibson WON the 200 FR, 50 FR, 500 FR.
We had finalists at National Club Swimming Association Championships in Orlando, FL. Videos were up on www.usaswimming.org!
Athletes with us qualified for Speedo’s Junior National Championships and Senior National Championships (Green) this past summer.
Our club was accredited by USA Swimming’s Recognition program as Level Two! (soon to be level 3).
Multiple SMAC athletes represented their high schools and earned individual State Championships and many other awards at the High School level.
SMAC Athletes are ahead of the national and state averages for Rates of Improvement across all four strokes and Individual Medley.
Knoxville January 2019 was the teams single greatest meet in team history, dropping well over 1000 seconds.

Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club is an organization that started in 2001. The team has very quietly helped athletes earn scholarships to college, qualify for national level meets, become state champs, and the like.  Not so quietly, the team has had an absolute blast getting faster, growing and kicking butt. We’ve got a great crew of teammates and families on the squad and we can’t say enough about them.
