Ardenwoods holds food drive for new community food pantry

Here’s the press release from Ardenwoods Retirement Community:

Ardenwoods Retirement Community held their annual food drive November 1 through 15.  The beneficiary of this year’s effort was the Community Food Pantry that has just begun operation at Avery’s Creek United Methodist Church.  This pantry serves the Avery’s Creek Community and is a partnership between Avery’s Creek Christian Church, Long Shoals Baptist Church, Words of Life Tabernacle and Avery’s Creek UMC.   The pantry’s goal is to provide food and personal hygiene items to sustain those who need assistance during the weekends.  The pantry is open from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. each Saturday morning.

Residents, staff and family members all donated toward the drive, and boxes were filled to overflowing at the Ardenwoods Clubhouse and Heather Glen Assisted Living Center.  Brenda Humphrey, pantry chairperson and her group of volunteers were very excited to receive multiple deliveries to the church during the drive.  According to Ardenwoods Accounting Director Pam Pate, “Being able to assist our neighbors here in the Avery’s Creek Community made this year’s drive very successful and rewarding, and we look forward to partnering with the Community Food Pantry again in the future.”
