Press release from Arts Council of Henderson County:

So you think you know Hendersonville…

…Do you know where one of the last Carnegie libraries in North Carolina is hiding?

…Do you know where to go to see the work of talented “wall dogs?”

…Can you find the last remnant of Art Deco styling on Main Street?

The new Art and Architecture Tours presented by the Arts Council of Henderson County will reveal the secrets of Hendersonville hiding in plain sight. The 90-minute tours depart on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. from in front of the Woodlands Gallery at 419 North Main Street. All tours are free of charge and no pre-registration is required. The first tour of 2019 will be on March 23.

Tours are led by Arts Council board member Doug Gelbert who has created over 400 architectural tours in towns across the United States and Canada. He is co-author of How About Them Apples? Be in the Know in Hendersonville and teaches the architectural course, “What House Style Is That?” at Blue Ridge Community College.

Dogs are welcome to accompany their well-behaved owners on the Art and Architectural Tours. Check the Arts Council of Henderson County website (acofhc.org) or walkthetown.com for all of the upcoming dates through October.
