Arts Council urges support for TDA legislation

Call to Action from Asheville Area Arts Council:

We need your help & immediate action!

Please email Speaker Tim Moore at tim.moore@ncleg.net and Senator Phil Berger at phil.berger@ncleg.net in support of SB 705 or the Buncombe County Jobs Recovery Act.

This act would allow $5 million to be appropriated from unspent funds currently remaining in the Tourism Product Development Fund, which comes from a portion of the occupancy tax paid by people who visit and stay overnight in commercial lodging facilities in Asheville and Buncombe County.

Businesses that will qualify are those that provide a direct experience for visitors, including many arts and cultural organizations. As proposed, these businesses would be eligible to apply for up to $50,000 in grants that can be used for payroll, inventory, and other expenses associated with reopening businesses and hiring employees.
