ArtScape Banner project seeks volunteers

Press release from ArtScape Hendersonville:

The colorful ArtScape show of outdoor artwork along the streets in downtown Hendersonville is still drawing attention, especially with the autumn leaf colors. Plans are underway now, however, for next year’s outstanding exhibit.

Volunteers wishing to participate in the 2020 ArtScape Banner project should step forward and contact the ArtScape Banner Committee now. Contact Chair Diane Dean at 843-247-1368 as soon as possible.

A total of 40 artists will be chosen to participate in the 2020 show, including four young artists. Artists must live in Henderson County and be 18 years or older. The young artists will be chosen in the age categories of 6 to 11 years and 12 to 17 years old. All artists may apply to the juried show beginning October 12 through mid-January 2020. Deadline and details will be set and available at www.artscapehvl.org soon. Next year’s outdoor art gallery will be on exhibit April 2020-March 2021.

“The ArtScape Committee is making plans for next year’s exhibit, and we have exciting projects that volunteers may enjoy. From planning the opening reception, to helping with the website, and/or coordinating the brochure production, there are a number of ways volunteers can jump in and help out,” reported ArtScape chair Diane Dean. “Our Committee will be happy with your assistance.”

In addition, those wishing to sponsor one or more banners in the 2020 show will save on the cost of sponsorship by signing up before the end of this year. For more information visit www.artscapehvl.org.

The current banners of outstanding artwork flutter on street poles in the autumn breezes in the 2019 outdoor art gallery show along Main Street, the downtown avenues, and Historic Seventh Avenue. These art banners will remain in place through the fall and winter, and will be replaced by the 2020 selection of artwork in April.

ArtScape Hendersonville is a community-building project adding interest and color to the downtown area, showcasing locally created art and helping make the city an exciting and unique art destination. The annually changing selection of banners on Main Street, Seventh Avenue, and the downtown side streets creates a unique twist on an outdoor gallery experience.
