“Ascension,” Painting Exhibit by Katie Linamen, to Open at UNCA

“Ascension,” an exhibit of paintings by UNC Asheville senior Katie Linamen will open with a reception at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 in UNC Asheville’s Owen Hall, Second Floor Gallery.

Linamen says her exhibit tries to “capture the power, vitality and finesse of the female body in motion,” taking inspiration from personal accounts of female climbers. According to Linamen, her paintings, comprised of acrylic on wood, accentuate the “complexities and feminine advantages of flexibility, balance, attention and precision.”

“Ascension” will be on display from 9 a.m.-6p.m Monday-Saturday, and 12-6 p.m. Sundays, through November 20. The opening reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public. For more information, visit art.unca.edu or call 828/251.6559.
