Asheville Comic Con comes to AIG Center in Fletcher

Press release from event organizers:

Timmy Mac’s Comics and Games, Time Tunnel Comics, and Paperback Palace are pleased to present the Asheville Comic Con at the Expo Building at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The doors will open at 10:00am and close around 5:00pm. There should be something there for everyone to enjoy.  We would be grateful if you would be willing to help promote the event by featuring a story in your publication.  I’m sure you are aware that promoting an event is key to its success.  This will be the first time we have hosted an event in the Asheville area, but we have hosted numerous comic conventions in both Morganton and Hickory for several years now and each event continues to grow in attendance.

We will have dozens of artists that will be attending. They will be selling prints and offering autographs.  Some of the artists attending the convention are Andy Smith, Gregbo Watson, and Matari Bain.  Matari Bain will be drawing live starting at 1:00pm.  There will be several cosplayers in attendance such as The Carolina Ghostbusters, 501st Legion, and the Klingon Assault Group.  There will also be Spiderman and the Ultimate Experience cosplay group to entertain those in attendance.  The Ultimate Experience Cosplay Group will also perform three shows during the event.  The Carolina Tardis will be there for Doctor Who fans.  There will also be a life-sized replica of Yoda from Star Wars.

There will be a Costume Contest at 2pm for participants in three categories: adult, child, and groups.  Some of the best Comic Book Dealers in the Southeast will be attending so there will be loads of comics to choose from as well as several toy dealers and lots of other collectibles.

Admission to the show is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children (13 and under). Children 3 and under are free. It will be a fun filled day for everyone who attends.
