Asheville Independence Day 5K debuts on July 4

Press release from Kick It Event Management:

The local Asheville racing scene has been lacking a celebratory 4th of July running event, but Kick It Events has stepped up to fill the void with the all-new Asheville Independence Day 5k. This flat and fast course (easy for Asheville) will start and finish at Asheville Outlets, the event’s gracious host and sponsor, and is sure to be great fun for the whole family!

$5 from each entry will be donated to either the Wounded Warrior Project or Veterans for Peace. Participants decide during registration which veterans’ program (or both) will receive their donation! Discounted youth (17 and under) and senior (65 and up) pricing is available.

Don’t want to run/walk but join in the fun? Volunteers can also earn $10 for these veterans programs for helping out race morning.

Participants will receive a drawstring bag of goodies courtesy of Asheville Outlets. Warm up by OrangeTheory Fitness Asheville begins at 7:40 a.m. Race starts at 8 a.m., with race awards at 9 a.m. (tentative).
