Asheville Poetry Review hosts Matthews Poetry Prize reading Aug. 17

The Asheville Poetry Review 2019 Matthews Poetry Prize reading is Saturday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. in Malaprop’s Bookstore.

Please join us for an evening of fantastic poetry performances, with Keith Flynn hosting and reading from the William Matthews canon. Hope to see you there!

Here are the final three winners for the 2019 William Matthews Poetry Prize, as selected by Dorianne Laux, who was our final judge. The winners are as follows:

First Place: “The Lions of Chauvet” by Jude Nutter
Second Place: “Blessing” by Sarah Rose Nordgen
Third Place: “Approaching My Brother, I Think of Karl Wallenda” by Joshua Martin
