Press release from the Asheville Police Department:
Asheville Police detectives are investigating a shooting in east Asheville early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound victim in the 800 block of Fairview Road around 1:07 a.m. on April 13th. When officers arrived, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm and began to render aid until the arrival of EMS. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was aggressively pursued by another vehicle for about a mile and attempted to separate by entering a parking lot. The vehicle continued to follow the victim into the parking lot, and once both vehicles had come to a stop, the suspect fired multiple rounds, striking the victim at least once before fleeing the area.
Patrol Forensics Technicians responded to the scene and were able to recover valuable evidence.
