Press release from the Asheville Police Department:
Asheville Police detectives are investigating gun discharges early Sunday morning in downtown Asheville. Thankfully, no one was injured and only property damage has been reported at this time.
Officers quickly responded to numerous gun discharges in downtown Asheville around 1:29 a.m. on March 2. As officers attempted to identify the location and individuals involved, a victim called indicating a bullet had struck the window of their residence on Woodfin Street. Upon arrival, they located a bullet hole in the window and a bullet in the opposite wall. Due to a swift response, officers identified and located two involved vehicles in separate locations; a white Ford Fusion with 4 bullet holes and a grey Dodge Charger with 2 bullet holes. Preliminary investigation, which includes the recovery of critical evidence, indicates the gunshots are the result of an argument in a parking lot of a business on North Lexington Street.
The investigation is active and ongoing. If you have any information regarding this incident, you are encouraged to contact APD at (828) 252-1110. You can also send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
