APD News Update- Assault Suspect Located and Arrested
Asheville, NC (April 24, 2025): Richard Scott Haulman (10/06/1970) was located and arrested by the Woodfin Police Department on April 23rd.
Haulman was booked into the Buncombe County Detention facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.

The Asheville Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating a man wanted for an assault yesterday on Wall Street in downtown Asheville.
Asheville Police officers responded to a report of a fight in progress with weapons in the 30 block of Wall Street around 10:12 a.m. on April 22nd. When officers arrived, the physical altercation had ended. Emergency medical personnel were on scene providing treatment to two men, both of whom sustained knife wounds. One of the injured individuals, later identified as the suspect, Richard Scott Haulman (10/06/1970), was transported to Mission Hospital but left the facility prior to receiving medical treatment.
Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that a verbal altercation between the two men escalated when Haulman assaulted the victim with a knife.
As a result of this investigation, Haulman has been charged with two counts of Assault With a Deadly Weapon. He currently remains at large.
Haulman is described as a white male, 54 years old, approximately 5’9” tall, and weighing 152 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes, facial hair, and may be wearing glasses.
