Asheville Police seeking mid-day drive-by shooting suspect

Press release from Asheville Police Department: 

Asheville, NC (Feb. 3, 2023): The Asheville Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate Zachary Carson Waters (07/02/2004), who has been identified and charged in a mid-day drive-by shooting that occurred Monday afternoon. A juvenile was also involved.

APD Patrol Officers responded to Atkinson Street around 1:31 p.m. on Jan. 30 to investigate multiple reports of gun discharge. Officers searched the nearby area and were unable to locate a suspect but did locate 10 shell casings in the area. Thankfully,  no people or property were struck during the incident.

After further investigation, Detectives charged Zachary Carson Waters (07/02/2004) with Felony Aid and Abet, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and No Operator License.

Detectives, in cooperation with the Department of Juvenile Justice, have charged the juvenile with Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, Discharging a Firearm within Enclosure, City Ordinance Firearm Violation, and Going Armed to the Terror of the People.

Waters is described as an 18-year-old black male, 5’8”, 140 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes. If you know Waters’s whereabouts, please do not approach; he is considered armed and dangerous
