Asheville ranked seventh-friendliest city in the nation

Readers of Conde Nast’s Traveler magazine have ranked Asheville the seventh-friendliest travel destination in the country.

Published on Aug. 11, the full list of the friendliest destinations, according to the votes of 128,000 readers, is:

  1. Charleston, S.C.
  2. Park City, Utah
  3. Savannah, Ga.
  4. Nashville, Tenn.
  5. Austin, Texas
  6. Santa Fe, N.M.
  7. Asheville, N.C.
  8. Jackson, Wyo.

“Good restaurants. Gay-friendly (although we aren’t gay). Lots of arts, theatre companies, art galleries, with an eclectic, fun, and lively River Arts District.”

    Yep if you have cash and are not disabled..poor or marginalized by the misogyny and racism here. It’s a friendly place..what gets me about Casheville is an inability to confront what we lack.

      An old rich Floridian once told me; ” The thing about Asheville is; nobody wants to talk to you unless you have money.”

      I couldn’t agree more! The sad result of major income equality in this city!

    Charleston #1 for sure! They have the service industry down to a science… Never been to an establishment there without being treated like a priority….. Which is way more than I can say about Asheville…. 5 out of 10 times one cannot ignore the typical pretentious bartender who tries (just a little too hard) to insinuate you’re interrupting their day…
