Basil King, a student at Black Mountain College, has been producing covers and art for poetry books since 1958. He began to write in the 1980s and now writes and paints daily. The 22-minute film Mirage pays homage to the 22 sections in King’s autobiographical book of the same name. The film was created by Nicole Peyrafitte and Miles Joris-Peyrafitte and commissioned by the Friends of Basil King. It depicts the intimacy between writing and painting in King’s life and work.
