Ashevegas: Local Habitat for Humanity house will honor Pope Francis

May 13 will be an important day for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, according to the website Ashevegas.com

The site reports that will be the day the group will begin construction on The Pope Francis House, the first Habitat house in the nation built in honor of the beloved Catholic leader.

This house is fully (financially) sponsored by an anonymous donor; local Catholic churches will take the lead in volunteer recruitment. Catholic and non-Catholic volunteers, local and non-local groups, will be invited to participate in the build.

The public wall raising will be at noon, May 16. The house will be built on Jeffress Avenue in Asheville’s Shiloh section.
