Asheville Macrobiotic Alliance to host Halloween potluck and costume party

The Asheville Macrobiotic Alliance will host a vegan macrobiotic potluck and Halloween costume party for all ages 5:30 – 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville, on the corner of Edwin Place and Charlotte Street.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. Appetizers will be served at 5:30 p.m. with a candlelight dinner at 6 p.m. and a costume contest with prizes at 7 p.m. The night will end with dancing.

A donation of $5 per adult is requested to help cover the cost of the space and supplies. Children age 14 and younger are free. Each guest should bring one vegan, macrobiotic, organic dish of at least four dinner-sized servings. Couples should bring eight dinner-sized servings. Guests are asked to omit all animal-based products and refined sugar from their potluck contributions. Suggested sweeteners include brown rice syrup, barley malt and maple syrup.

Attendees may bring their own drinks. Hot tea, cider and popcorn will be provided. All potluck dishes should be accompanied by an index card marked with the attendee’s name, the ingredients and whether or not the dish is gluten-free.
