From Asheville School

Asheville School’s drama department will present All in the Timing on October 25 and 26 at 7:15 pm in Graham Theater. The show runsabout an hour and a half, and is free and open to the public with limited seating available.

“It is a fun play with great characters and all of the literary references throughout the play will gets lots of laughs from both the faculty and the well-read students,” said Peter Savage, Asheville School’s Drama Director. “Audiences should be ready to laugh. It also wouldn’t hurt to brush up on your Faulkner and Shakespeare.”

All in the Timing is a collection of short, comedic one-act plays. The stories include a play about two people who meet in a café and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love. Another scene recalls the philosophical adage that three monkeys typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet. Other stories share similar absurdities.

Students are also excited about the upcoming performances. The cast and crew includes Sonya Erchak ’14 (Asheville, NC), Taylor Jeffries ’13 (Johnson City, TN), Mary Chamberlain Harlan ’15 (Asheville, NC), Niara Webb ’16 (Cary, NC), Mary Brown ’13 (Staunton, VA), Becca Buchanan ’14 (Weaverville, NC), Sean Wrinkle (Nassau, Bahamas), Karen Zhang ’13 (Beijing, China), Alex Graham ’14 (Kure Beach, NC), Paula Rem ’14 (Osijek, Slavonia, Croatia), Demario Powell ’16 (Durham, NC), Hannah Beacham ’14 (Greenville, SC), Tony Wang ’14 (Beijing, China), Kennedy Wesley ’15 (Union City, GA) , Jillian Crotts ’16 (Asheville, NC) and Ting Yi ’13 (Shanghai, China).

Participants in this year’s drama program are a dedicated group of students, who are very supportive of each other and come to rehearsals prepared and excited.

“I have a large number of freshmen and as a whole they have been very impressive,” Savage said. “Asheville School has a great number of very talented students and this entire cast has made great choices with their characterizations, which makes my job much easier.”
