Asheville singer makes ‘American Idol’ top 30

Will the third time be a charm for Asheville’s Caleb Johnson?

Johnson has been advancing through the early rounds of “American Idol,” and Thursday night he became one of the final 30 contestants in this year’s competition. The show can be seen on Fox (WHNS/Channel 21).

In 2011 he made it to the show’s Hollywood rounds and he made the final 24 before being cut in 2012.

Mountain Xpress’ Alli Marshall interviewed Johnson in 2011.
