Asheville Tea Party to join 2nd Amendment Freedom Rally in Raleigh

Here’s the press release from the Asheville Tea Party:

Asheville Tea Party (ATP) and other freedom loving groups across North Carolina are joining Grassroots North Carolina for a 2nd Amendment Freedom Rally at noon, Tuesday, February 5th, outside of the General Assembly at Halifax Mall, 16 West Jones Street, Raleigh.

According to ATP Chair Jane Bilello, “Our trip to Raleigh is multi-purpose. In addition to joining other Patriots on the Mall, we will be lobbying our senators and representatives to provide the leadership needed to put up a firewall between the states and the overbearing encroachment of the Federal government.”

To that end, grassroots Patriot groups across North Carolina will come together to lobby their representatives to give each school board the control to decide whether to train and arm school personnel as an alternative or as an addition to the school resource officer by nullifying the Gun Free School Zone Act of 1990, updated in 1995. “This act makes the Federal government complicit in the murders of the many innocents in our schools which have become killing fields. Other states are passing and proposing like legislation and North Carolina needs to join them,” commented Bilello.

In addition, grassroots groups will join with the Voter Integrity Project, Inc., (VIP) to push for comprehensive election reform beyond the voter ID legislation currently proposed. Jay DeLancy, VIP Executive Director commented, “If we get voter ID passed and then pat ourselves on the back and go back to sleep, we will find out how other aspects of the election law will enable unscrupulous people to lie and steal their way back into power. We need to make sure our elected leaders understand that NC needs comprehensive election law reform.“ For example, one piece of the legislation deals with terminating same-day, one-stop voter registration, and another deals with reforming college student voter registration.
