From a press release:

Downtown Asheville has a new kid on the block. The Herbiary, an herbal apothecary and natural remedy store opens its doors to the community with a grand opening event on Saturday, November 1st.

“Herbiary is a resource not just for Asheville’s botanical needs, it is also a hub where the herbal community can come together” says Andrew Celwyn, co-owner of the Herbiary with wife and herbalist, Maia Toll.

The grand opening event will feature local herbalists such as CoreyPine Shane of Pine’s Herbals and Jeannie Dunn of Red Moon Herbs. Classes, product demos and tarot readings will also take place throughout the day, from 10 am – 7 pm at 29 N Market Street. For a complete schedule, visit Herbiary’s Facebook page.

“Local businesses thrive on partnerships,” says Celwyn. “We are building relationships with local product makers, practitioners, growers, and herb schools. The community has been incredibly welcoming. One of our best relationships has been with our neighbor Charlie Hodge of Sovereign Remedies who will be giving a talk at 3pm on the history of herbs in spirits & liquors, to be followed by a cordial making demonstration by Maia Toll.

Andrew and Maia founded the Herbiary nine years ago in Philadelphia and moved to Asheville with the vision of opening a second store. “We were happily surprised to find that Asheville didn’t already have a dedicated herb store,” says Toll. “It is an opening that we are honored to step into.”

The Herbiary offers a wide-selection of organic and wild-crafted herbs, as well as organic essential oils, flower essences, books, medicine making supplies, and hand-crafted soaps and skin care. “Everything we bring into the store is top-quality, we check the ingredients in every product so that you can feel comfortable with whatever you buy here.”
