BCTDA opens festivals and cultural events grant cycle

Press release from the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority:

The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority (BCTDA) has opened its Festivals and Cultural Events Support Program grant cycle for qualified events occurring in the 2019 calendar year. This is the third year this support has been made available to local government and non-profits in Buncombe County.

The Festivals and Cultural Events Support Program is utilizing revenue earned from advertising on the ExploreAsheville.com website. This discretionary income allows BCTDA to fund event operations, which is not a qualified use of the occupancy tax under North Carolina’s room tax legislation.

Applications for the 2019 Festivals and Cultural Events Support Program are due on Friday, August 31; grants will be announced after the BCTDA’s September 26 meeting. For a 2019 Festivals and Cultural Events Support Fund Program Guide and Application form, go to www.AshevilleCVB.com and select Tourism in the Community.  All inquiries should be directed to Glenn Cox at gcox@exploreasheville.com.
