‘Bike For Life’ fundraiser ride kicks off Sept. 15 at Carrier Park

Here’s the press release from Arts For Life:

Asheville, NC – In 2012, Asheville’s own Buster Brown rode across the country on his bicycle to raise funds and awareness for four local nonprofits. This year, he decided he would like a little company, and dreamed up the Bike For Life 2013 ride across North Carolina. A team of cyclists, led by Buster, will be riding across our state as part of Cycle North Carolina’s “Mountains to Coast Ride.” From September 28th to October 5th, the Bike For Life team will ride to raise money for Sisters Of Mercy Urgent Care, Arts For Life, Asheville Pregnancy Support Services, and Sports Outreach.

“I am very excited to be riding with my wife, Karen, and nine others in support of the four nonprofits in the 2nd Annual Bike For Life ride across North Carolina,” said Brown. Buster and the Bike For Life team – representatives from each of the four organizations – will pedal 491 miles, from Spruce Pine to Atlantic Beach, and are asking for financial support per mile. It isn’t too late to join the team – find out more about the ride at cnc.ncsports.org/fallrideCNCride.

On Sunday, September 15th, Bike For Life will host a Family Fun Ride Kickoff fundraiser at Carrier Park in Asheville from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. This family-friendly event will begin with an all-ages group ride through the park on the French Broad River Greenway, and will end with a cookout at the Picnic Pavilion. This is a fun opportunity to support the ride with your donations, learn more about the organizations you are supporting, and send off the riders who will spend a week on their bikes. With a suggested donation of $20 per family, you can support this cause while joining in on the fun. Join the Bike For Life team at the pavilion at 3:00pm with bikes, helmets, donations, and support for your community. Complimentary picnic at 4:00pm.

Bike For Life’s generous sponsors include: Practice Velocity Urgent Care Solutions, Altamont Capital Management, Brown Properties, Richard and Bridget Eckerd, Ellen Lawson, MD, Dana & Jana Stonestreet, Kallam Grove Church, Medstream Anesthesia Solutions, Ted Rheney, MD, Bruce Gilpin, MD, Advanced Business Equipment, and Ski Country Sports.

Supporting the Bike For Life ride means supporting four local organizations that reach out and touch the lives of many people in this community. “These are great charities with great values,” said Brown. “It is an honor to ride for them.” To find out more about each organization and to pledge your support, visit our Facebook page: facebook.com/bikeforlifenc.
