Black Mountain News: Local farms damaged from record rainfall, worst in nine years

From Black Mountain News

Story by Joel Burgess:

Damage to local farms from recent record rains was the worst since two back-to-back tropical storms walloped the region nine years ago, officials are now saying.

Buncombe County damage estimates from this summer show losses to major crops including half the 500 acres of tomatoes planted and nearly a third of 1,600 acres of animal feed corn.
