From TN DOT… The date for the closing of the Wolf Creek Bridge was originally set for April 5, 2012. The date for the closure has been changed to Tuesday, April 10 in order to accommodate travelers during the holiday weekend. The anticipated duration of the closure is 700 calendar days as was stipulated in the project contract. It is anticipated that the bridge will be reopened in March of 2014.

They best hope their are no rock slides closing I-40 for those two years.

that is a huge concern, TN DOT says if that happens (more like when, given the past couple of years), the detour would go through Johnson City

If your driving a car you can still go to Del Rio, Tn from Newport,tn at Del Rio Post office turn right on TN107w go 100 yards across bridge turn left onto Fugate rd go 4 1/2 miles up Fugate rd and get back on US25 to Hot Springs, NC and of course you can go back also the same way but i do not suggest large trucks cause the road does narrow and you should not exceed 30MPH
