Brooks-Howell to hold fundraiser for new community medical services, July 27-28

Press release from Brooks-Howell Retirement Community:

Thanks to Asheville’s Brooks-Howell, the city will have a Community Medical Clinic and Medical Loan Closet for seniors in need. Brook-Howell is also raising money to donate to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church to develop a BEAR (baby equipment and resource) closet. Brooks-Howell is a non-profit, charitable retirement community offering continuing care.

The Medical Loan Closet will be open to all persons in the community needing medical equipment but are not able to afford it or do not have insurance. The Community Medical Clinic will be established similar to an Urgent Care for Seniors, to enable seniors to see a geriatric-trained practitioner who understands the aging adult and which will prevent them from being exposed to sick children who may have viruses or infections for which the seniors have no immunity.

To raise the money to establish these much-needed services Brooks-Howell will have a yard sale at 266 Merrimon Avenue in Asheville on Friday, July 27th from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm and on Saturday, July 28th from 7:00 am until noon.
