From a press release:

Buddy Davis and the Session Players at Madison County Arts Center, Oct. 25

Buddy Davis will be returning to Madison County on Saturday, October 25 to play a show at The Madison County Arts Center. “This is going to be a night of big fun for our audience,” exclaimed Laura Boosinger, Executive Director of the Madison County Arts Council. “We are looking forward to an old time honk tonk filled with country classics and Bluegrass standards. Folks should definitely wear their dancing slippers.” Buddy Davis is a seventh generation descendant of the original settlers of Madison County. He played his first professional gig at the age of fourteen and over the following fifty years he’s shared the stage or recorded with innumerable well-known musicians.

He has won numerous awards at the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival in Asheville, NC and in 2000 was a recipient of the prestigious Lunsford Award for his lifelong efforts in support of mountain and traditional music. In 1985 he played on a Grammy nominated cut with Doc and Merle Watson.

A solid vocalist, instrumentalist and MC, Buddy recently gathered friends and professional performers Brian Hunter, (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals) Robert Reeves,
(High-strung Rhythm Guitar, Vocals) Keith Buchanan, (Percussion, Harmonica)
Andy Hunter, (Lead Electric Guitar) and Lynn Netherton, (Pedal Steel Guitar) to form “The Session Players”- each averaging over 40 years experience in the music business.

The “Session Players” are committed to respectful, authentic renditions of vintage Country Music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and, in keeping with tradition, always include some gospel music. They enjoy seeing the audience dancing during their shows.

This performance will be their debut at MCAC. Their special musical guests will be Laura Boosinger (channeling Patsy Cline) and eleven year old fiddling prodigy Rhiannon Ramsey.
