Building stronger communities with Chuck Marohn

Press release from Asheville Downtown Association:

Join us Tuesday, May 16 for a free presentation and discussion with Chuck Marohn of Strong Towns. The event will include a networking reception from 6:30-7pm, with the presentation and discussion from 7-8pm at The Collider
in Downtown Asheville.

Join us for a presentation and discussion about the financial health of our places. For decades we have avoided a difficult truth: Our pattern of development—the very way we build our towns and neighborhoods—costs more to maintain than it generates in return. Our cities and states now face a financial crisis of tremendous proportions. We can cut spending and we can raise taxes, but we will not be on a path to sustained prosperity unless we are willing to reform our approach to growth.

Chuck will answer questions like:
• Why are cities so short of resources despite decades of growth?
• Why do we struggle at the local level to maintain basic infrastructure?
• What do we do now that the economy has changed so dramatically?

This event is free, but please register by clicking here.
