Buncombe County Schools announces schedule changes

Press release from Buncombe County Schools:

Hello BCS Parents and Staff-

We have one more school schedule change in May to inform you about. May 15 will go from an early dismissal day to a full day of instruction.

This is in addition to:

The April 27 early dismissal that was turned into a full day,

May 28th turned into a day of instruction (with an early dismissal),

And, the 20 minutes added to school days in April only.

June 13 will be our last day of instruction before summer break.

The BCS Board of Education agreed at April’s meeting that there would be no further changes necessary to compensate for time lost to winter weather to meet the state calendar law. The current plan well exceeds the 1,025 hours of instructional time required by the state, and this plan aligns with our parent and teacher survey results.

Please contact your school with any questions.

yes, let’s change Memorial Day into a school day – no working families ever take vacations over that weekend…
