Buncombe County Sheriff Office investigating early morning shooting on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Press release from the National Park Service: 

NPS law enforcement, in cooperation with Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, are currently ​on-scene investigating an early morning shooting between two male individuals that occurred on September 4, 2020 at just before 3:00 AM, near mile post 364 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. One subject, who was shot in an alleged break-in attempt has been transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville with injuries requiring surgery.

The shooter, and owner of the vehicle being broken into called 911 immediately to report the incident and is currently being held by investigators.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s office will be the lead investigative agency with assistance from the National Park Service.
