Buncombe County offices closed in observance of Independence Day

On Monday, July 4, all Buncombe County administrative offices will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Please see more information on County schedules below.

On Monday July 4, the night sky will ignite with a barrage of color, light, and sound over Lake Julian Park  (37 Lake Julian Rd) as the annual fireworks display takes place to celebrate Independence Day. Buncombe County friends, neighbors, and guests are invited to enjoy the spectacle just after dark from the banks of the lake on blankets and lawn chairs. The fireworks display begins approximately at 9:15 p.m., but visitors should arrive early to park and enter the Lake Julian Park. Find more information at buncombecounty.org/parks.

Solid Waste

Solid Waste administrative offices, the Buncombe County Landfill, and Transfer Station are closed on Monday, July 4.

Waste Pro will be closed on Monday, July 4. Monday collections will occur on Tuesday, July 5, Tuesday collections on Wednesday, and so on with Friday collections on Saturday.

Health & Human Services

All BCHHS offices including the Immunization Clinic will be closed Monday, July 4.

Parks & Recreation

Parks & Recreation administrative offices are closed Monday July 4, but parks, pools, and facilities are open on a regular schedule. Find more at buncombecounty.org/parks.

Libraries

All Buncombe County public libraries will be closed Monday, July 4, per their regular schedule. Access our digital resources at buncombecounty.org/library.

Buncombe County Courthouse

Buncombe County courts observe the North Carolina Judicial Branch holiday schedule and will be closed Monday, July 4.

Mountain Mobility

Mountain Mobility is only operating ADA paratransit service on Monday, July 4. No other trips will be served.

Register of Deeds

The Buncombe County Register of Deeds will be closed Monday, July 4. Online services will remain available.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office front desk will be closed Monday, July 4, all other operations will be on a normal schedule.

Emergency Services

Administrative offices will be closed Monday, July 4. EMS and 911 maintain normal operations.

Family Justice Center

The Family Justice Center will be closed on Monday, July 4. You can find 24-hour hotline information on our website.

    I don’t celebrate this ridiculous holiday. The only people in this country who are free are white and male.
