The City of Asheville is pleased to announce that the remaining bus stops along Swannanoa River Road will resume service on Sunday, May 4.
This service restoration comes after the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) completed repairs and officially reopened Swannanoa River Road. With the roadway now accessible, Asheville Rides Transit (ART) is ready to fully reintegrate these bus stops into its route network again.
This marks a major milestone in Asheville’s storm recovery efforts, as these are the final bus stops to reopen following the extensive damage caused by Tropical Storm Helene.
“We’re grateful for the patience of our riders and the hard work of NCDOT in restoring this vital corridor,” said Ashley Haire, Transportation Director. “Bringing these bus stops back online is a key step in reconnecting communities impacted by the storm.”
As part of ongoing improvements, bus shelters along this stretch of Swannanoa River Road will be restored. This shelter restoration will be completed on a separate timeline. The City is committed to keeping riders informed and will share updates as project details become more clear.
