Cane River Park – Community Fun & Work Day – Burnsville Aug. 25th

Bring the whole family and join the fun on Saturday, August 25th from 10:00 AM – Noon for a Community Fun & Work Day at Cane River Park. Cane River Park is
located off 19W on Whittington Road in Burnsville. This park has been in the works for many years and is finally ready for use by the public.

“We hope the community will come out and explore the many new features at the park” said Marvin Holland, Yancey County Commissioner and Graham Children’s
Health Services Board Member.

The day will feature free inflatables, guided trail walks, river activities and education, children’s games, soccer pick up games, healthy snacks and more. The community playground will be installed during this time, so it is a wonderful opportunity to see it come together. It will be available and ready for play over Labor Day weekend.

“This is a great opportunity for the many community groups that have worked with the County on this project to come together and celebrate the park. Special thanks to Graham Children’s Health Services, Mitchell Yancey Partnership to Children, Yancey County Youth League, Toe River Valley Watch and the many funders that have supported the park” said Jill Austin, Yancey County Commissioner and Graham Children’s Health Services Board Member.

Volunteer opportunities are also available at the park. On August 23, 24 and 25, the community playground will be being installed. Volunteers are needed to sign up for shifts from 8-noon or noon-4 on those days. Yancey County Youth League is also organizing a rock pick up to clear off the soccer field from 9:00-10:00 AM on August 25. If interested in volunteering or donating food for volunteers, please call Graham Children’s Health Services at 682-7899 or email gchs@trhd.dst.nc.us.
