CarePartners Foundation Estate Sales Services celebrates five years with sale

Press release from CarePartners Foundation Estate Sales Services:

Asheville, NC (May 22, 2014) – It began as a flicker of an idea after watching CarePartners’ patients and their families often struggle with the practical aspects of aging:  downsizing from life in a larger home to a smaller one, often at a retirement home; settling the estate of a recently deceased family member; or moving from western North Carolina to another state where there are family members. In every situation, the question was the same. What do I do with all of this stuff?

In answer to that question CarePartners Foundation established its Estate Sales Services in 2009. “We find that people at all stages of life can often use a little help figuring out what to do with possessions they have accumulated over the years,” said Brent Wyatt, Director of Retail Operations. In just five years, the Estate Sales Services team has helped 825 families.

From June 7-9, CarePartners Estate Sales Services will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a vast estate sale including thousands if items and an appraisal fair. “We’re particularly excited about the appraisal fair,” Wyatt said. “It will be a little like Antiques Roadshow without the television cameras and with Asheville’s own great appraisers:  Richard Hatch of Richard Hatch and Associates and Cody Reid and Aaron Edwards of Brunk Auctions. Who knows what treasures people will bring in.” The verbal appraisals cost $10 per item with a limit of three items per person.

In advance of the sale, Estate Sales Services is hosting a wine and cheese preview of the estate sale from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4. “Because this is such a large sale, we are encouraging folks to come to the preview. It is by far the best way to see what’s being offered,” said Skip Wade , Estate Sales Team Leader. The sale includes items from 7 estates.

Buyers bringing five cans of food for Loving Food Resources, a food bank that supports people living with HIV/AIDS and patients being cared for by in-home hospice services, will receive an additional 10% off their purchase. “We saw this as a way to do something good for those in need,” Wyatt said. “That’s really what CarePartners Estate Sales Services is all about. Our proceeds go to support hospice care. This food drive is just another way of doing that.”
