HIKE TO LITTLE BEARWALLOW FALLS and WILDCAT ROCK
Saturday, April 29, 2017, Little Bearwallow and Wildcat Rock Hike

Join Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy on Saturday, April 29, for a guided hike to Little Bearwallow Falls and Wildcat Rock. This challenging hike features a stunning view of a 100-foot waterfall from a scenic rock perch.

We will ascend the sustainably-designed-and-constructed Little Bearwallow Trail to Little Bearwallow Falls before climbing to the top of Wildcat Rock for a breathtaking view. This hike also offers a great opportunity to learn more about wildflowers as it traverses a CMLC-conserved property that has been described by biologists as the most abundant and diverse wildflower tract in Henderson County.

The Little Bearwallow Trail is CMLC’s most recently completed trail and is located in the Upper Hickory Nut Gorge. Along the way, you will learn from the source what went into protecting and creating this trail—from the conservation easements and land acquisition to digging tread and moving boulders!

This 3-mile round trip hike is extremely strenuous. The trail gains a staggering 1,200 feet over only 1.5 miles and features technical challenges. The trail utilizes over 300 log-and-rock stairs to reach the exciting destinations we will be visiting. This hike is not for the faint of heart, but it is worth the climb!

This hike is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required! To sign-up, visit bit.ly/adventuresignup. For more information, visit carolinamountain.org. “Like” us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on all of CMLC’s upcoming adventures.
