Children First/Communities In Schools hosts fundraising trivia on May 3

Press release from Children First/Communities in Schools:

American mobster Al Capone was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for what crime? We hope you won’t be too “taxed” and the answer won’t “evade” you at the 7th annual “Are You Smarter Than an Elementary Student” fundraising event, benefiting the local nonprofit Children First/Communities In Schools and presented by The Omni Grove Park Inn.

Trivia lovers can test their general knowledge and repertoire of pop culture references, win great prizes, and enter to win raffle items, all while contributing to Children First/Communities In Schools (CIS) so they can continue to provide services, resources, and advocacy to local children.

This trivia night fundraising event will take place on Thursday, May 3 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the New Belgium Brewhouse at 21 Craven Street in Asheville. Teams will answer questions from preeminent trivia master Kipper Schauer on current events, pop culture, science, geography, and more.

Team prizes for 1st through 3rd place include passes to Navitat Canopy Adventures, concert tickets to the Orange Peel music venue, and “Cesspool of Sin” t-shirts from Image 420. Space is limited to 20 teams this year, with a maximum of 6 people per team. For $300, you can register a team at childrenfirstcisbc.org by clicking on the Register a Team button or by contacting Kate Frost at KateF@childrenfirstbc.org or 828-214-5052.

This year, the non-profit has opened up its raffle to the public. For a $5 ticket per item, you can enter to win amazing items including a Perception Impulse kayak, Mikimoto pearl earrings, a spa package or dinner, and theater tickets. Children First/CIS will announce each winner on Thursday, May 3 at their annual fundraising event. Winners do not have to be present to win and can purchase $5 raffle tickets at childrenfirstcisbc.org/raffle.

Raffle items include:
· A Perception Impulse Kayak from French Broad Outfitters ($500 value).
