CIBO approves resolution of support for Asheville City of Police

Press release from Council of Independent Business Owners (CIBO):

At the Friday, August 20th CIBO Issues meeting, the CIBO Issues Committee unanimously approved the following resolution in support of the men and women of the Asheville Police Department. CIBO calls on the Asheville City Council, along with all citizens, businesses, and non-profit organizations, to show their support as well.

A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CITY OF ASHEVILLE POLICE

WHEREAS, the men and women of the City of Asheville Police Department wear their uniforms with honor, dedication, and integrity as they protect and defend the city they serve; and

WHEREAS,  officers and personnel within the police department deserve support from the local community and adequate training in order to perform their duties; and

WHEREAS, it has been reported that violent crime continues to be on the rise in the City of Asheville; and

WHEREAS, the City of Asheville police force continues to lose sworn officers; and

WHEREAS,  officers and personnel within the police department deserve support from the City of Asheville and adequate funding in order to perform their duties; and

WHEREAS, we, the Council of Independent Business Owners, support the men and women of the City of Asheville Police Department who stand every day as the guardians of peace and order, ready to protect our homes and businesses, the weak and oppressed, and our very freedom.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of Independent Business Owners

That the Council of Independent Business Owners publicly acknowledges their support for the commitment and sacrifice made by each and every member of the City of Asheville police force and calls on every elected and appointed official in the City of Asheville to lend support and financial resources in order for the department to fully serve the citizens.

RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COUNCIL OF INDEPENDENT BUSINESS OWNERS on August 20th, 2021

    Can we include the following text to instill confidence in ALL our people? “To fully serve all citizens, even those who don’t identify as cis white males.”. Can we add that??
