Citizen Vinyl holds a Farewell Party for Cafe and Record Store

Press release from Citizen Vinyl:

While Citizen Vinyl will be open every day (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) until Wednesday, April 30, we wanted a chance to REALLY CELEBRATE all the good times, great shows, delicious meals, beautiful drinks, and excellent community that have taken place within the walls of Citizen Vinyl’s Session Café and Coda record store.
The whole Asheville community (and beyond) is invited to our farewell party all day on Sunday, April 27, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Stop in for coffee and snacks, cocktails and mocktails, vinyl shopping, and reminiscing. DJ Forest Floor will spin records and we’ll be raffling off a few of our Hurricane Relief Vinyl Blanks.
If you miss the party on Sunday, never fear! The cafe and record store will still be open April 28-30, and our recording studio and record pressing facility — which are not closing — will continue to operate for all your recording and record-pressing needs. Citizen Vinyl’s popular factory and studio tour program will also continue, allowing locals, school groups, and visitors to experience how vinyl records are made, as well as learn about the rich history of the Citizen-Times building, its historic WWNC radio station studio (now Citizen Studios), and the important role Asheville has played in the development of American roots music.
The difficult decision to close our cafe, record store, and event space will allow Citizen Vinyl to strengthen its focus on the success and growth of its vinyl manufacturing operations, Citizen Studios recording studio, and our many services such as in-house cassette duplication, D2C fulfillment, our recently patented vinylkey® technology, and a new Citizen Vinyl record label. As we move into our next chapter, we give thanks to all of the community partners who’ve hosted events here and all the musicians who’ve played here — and we look forward to finding new ways to serve and collaborate with Asheville’s creative community.
